There are absolutely no words to describe a steelhead fight, After a firm hook-set, winter steelhead become a furious fighter of flexing muscle, racing through the water at speeds over 20+ miles per hour. Rods bend over double and line peels from the reel, accompanied by the song of the drags gears. Sometimes the best you can do is, simply, hold on tight.

North Umpqua is catch and release for wild steelhead only!
